Start-up Kitchen Facilitator

In the SKILLS FACTORY in Samos, our kitchen department unites professionals worldwide, working collaboratively to bake, cook nutritious meals, cultivate local produce, and innovate solutions for repurposing leftovers into humanitarian aid goods.

Overview:

Join our team of experienced professionals and newcomers to foster knowledge exchange and empower individuals with the skills for independent living in Europe. Due to high demand and success, we’re expanding our kitchen department and seek a Start-up Facilitator to finalize training programs, set up workshops, define team structures, and implement them.

As department facilitator you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with department coordinators to establish and implement cooking plans.
  • Calculate meal costs, plan orders, and organize the professional kitchen setup.
  • Recruit community volunteers and introduce new members to the department and SKILLS FACTORY.
  • Support daily meal preparation for the team and organize food processing and distribution plans.
  • Overseeing meal distribution and ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Managing inventory, ensuring adequate stock of ingredients, and making necessary purchases within budget constraints.
  • Taking record of expenses aligned with the budget and conducting bookkeeping for the department.
  • Hold weekly department meetings for feedback, planning, and vision discussions.
  • Implement organizational structures and routines for workshop management.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports and collaborate with project management for sustainable departmental development.
  • Collaborating with the media department to promote the kitchen’s initiatives, events, and achievements.

Requirements:

  • Professional education and relevant experience as a chef.
  • Highly motivated, creative, and adaptable problem-solver with a strong team spirit.
  • Flexible and adaptable, considering the start-up phase without fixed structures.
  • Team-oriented mindset, emphasizing individual skills and needs.
  • Mentally resilient, capable of handling confronting situations and maintaining healthy boundaries (minimum age 25).
  • Alignment with our values, philosophy, and sensitivity to diverse perspectives.
  • Minimum commitment of 2 months, preferably longer (3 months+).
