Overview:

selfm.aid is a Swiss–Greek NGO working at the intersection of humanitarian aid, empowerment, and self-reliance. Through projects such as SKILLS FACTORY and Phones Without Borders, we support refugee communities on Samos by creating access to skills, resources, and dignified work opportunities.

In a time of internal transition and organisational development, we are looking for a motivated Fundraising Officer to support the Project Managers across several organizational levels. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain deep insight into the inner workings of a grassroots NGO: from strategy and fundraising to daily operations and project implementation.

As Fundraising and Promotions Officer:

You will work closely with the SKILLS FACTORY Project Managers and partially with the Director of selfm.aid to support fundraising initiatives. Your role will focus on securing and managing corporate sponsorships, coordinating events and campaign planning, assisting with grant applications and providing cross-departmental support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independent procurement of corporate department sponsorship of the various departments of the SKILLS FACTORY.
  • Supporting fundraising activities of the project.
  • Oversee the showcasing of department activities by promotion of the SKILLS FACTORY donation shop.
  • Undertake the planning and execution of regular promotional events & collaborations.
  • Supporting communication, social media, and advocacy activities.
  • Assisting with general administration, and contributing to the improvement of internal structures and workflows.
  • Contributing operationally within the project when needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience in administrative roles and/or in a humanitarian or non-profit context.
  • Strong computer skills (Office, especially Excel, Canva and accounting knowledge is a strong asset)
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); German is a strong advantage (Swiss registration)
  • Highly motivated, proactive, organised, exact, and reliable
  • Flexible and interested in gaining insight into a humanitarian non-profit organisation.
  • Open to learning within a diverse team.
  • Mentally resilient and able to navigate challenging situations while maintaining healthy boundaries (minimum age 23).
  • Alignment with selfm.aid’s values, philosophy, and vision

What we offer:

  • Collaboration within a diverse, dynamic team of craftspeople from all over the world.
  • Hands-on experience within a grassroots NGO
  • Insight into NGO management, fundraising, reporting, and project coordination
  • Opportunity to shape the foundation and growth of a vital role.
  • Integration into a collaborative, values-driven environment.
  • A culture of mutual respect and empowerment.
  • Comprehensive orientation and support during your stay.
  • Hot lunch on workdays and accommodation throughout your stay.
  • Bi-Weekly self-care meetings.
  • References upon completion.
