Barber Workshop
in the SKILLS FACTORY on Samos
In our barber department „MoustacheMou“, skilled barbers from diverse backgrounds provide training for aspiring colleagues while offering free haircuts and shaves with dignity for all individuals trapped in the Samos refugee camp.
Background
A fresh shave is not only a significant boost for mental health but is also an essential ritual in the culture and religion of many asylum seekers, providing a sense of safety and dignity.
Moreover, the profession of a barber is a gifted skill, in demand globally, with reasonable start-up requirements and equipment.
We take pride in promoting this crucial profession within the SKILLS FACTORY.
Our work in the barber workshop includes:
- Barber-Service: Free appointments for all Samos residents who cannot afford salon visits.
- Professional haircuts, styling and beard care.
- Training Programs: Targeted work training on three different levels for newcomers and professionals, enhancing confidence and professional experience.
- Exchange of techniques and expertise with professionals from around the world.
OUR IMPACT
- Strengthening the self-esteem of our customers through dignified haircuts and well-groomed looks.
- Fostering independence and creativity.
- Preparing participants for the European job market and enhancing their valuable skills.
- Active commitment to promoting the barber and hairdresser trades.
Department Sponsoring
In order to equip the barber workshop and keep it running, we depend on the support of sponsors.
It is particularly important to us to purchase consumables directly on the island from our local partners, thereby supporting small, family-owned businesses.
Professional barbering equipment not available on the island has been made available to us by companies who care as much about the future of the craft as we do.
Together with our partners we invest in craftsmanship
and in the future of our society.
