SKILLS-Connect
What Comes After the SKILLS FACTORY?
To ensure the long-term sustainability of our work and help participants take the next step toward an independent life in Europe, SKILLS-CONNECT supports individuals on their journey into the labor market – both on Samos and beyond.
Even during their time at the SKILLS FACTORY, participants complete a three-level training program across various departments. This is complemented by practical language courses in English and Greek, specifically tailored to workplace needs.
Background
Samos has traditionally relied on agriculture and tourism, but the island now faces serious challenges: an aging population, the outmigration of young workers, and a growing shortage of skilled labor – especially during the busy summer months.
This is where SKILLS-CONNECT steps in. Many of our participants are eager to gain their first work experience in Europe, build a new future, and contribute to the island in a new and meaningful role.
We support local businesses and our participants in building sustainable employment relationships that benefit both sides. We also assist with bureaucratic processes, accompany participants to public offices, and mediate in cases of conflicts or labor law issues.

Programm Sponsoring
SKILLS-CONNECT helps displaced people gain access to the European job market – through individual support and deep local engagement. While the program has shown great success, it is also time-intensive and complex. Our local coordinator is essential to its success: she builds trust, provides ongoing guidance, and bridges the gap between employers and participants.
The program is funded by ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy in 2026.
To continue SKILLS CONNECT beyond the current funding period, we are seeking sponsors for 2027 who are willing to support this important bridge-building work and thereby make a concrete contribution to social integration and regional development on Samos.
Together with our sponsors, we are shaping the resilient and diverse society our future depends on.
