Start-up Coordinator for New Barber Workshop

At the SKILLS FACTORY in Samos, the Barber Department is a collaborative space where professionals from diverse backgrounds provide grooming, haircuts, and care with dignity to the camp community, other organizations, and locals in need. Our team comprises experienced professionals and newcomers eager to learn, fostering knowledge exchange and training individuals, offering a vital first step toward independent living in Europe.

Overview:

Due to high demand and success, we are expanding our barber department. We seek a volunteer Start-up Coordinator to establish and finalize a comprehensive training program spanning three levels within the SKILLS FACTORY certification framework. This role involves setting up and equipping the new workshop, defining team structures and procedures, and implementing these initiatives.

As Start-up coordinator you will be responsible for:

  • Evaluate training capacity, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Develop a three-level training program (from beginner to confidence and department manager/teacher) within the SKILLS FACTORY certification framework.
  • Set up and equip the new barber workshop with necessary materials.
  • Assist in drafting a project description for fundraising purposes.
  • Establish connections and identify job opportunities.
  • Define team structures and operational procedures.
  • Involve community volunteers in the process.

Requirements:

  • Professional education and experience as a barber (both outside and within Europe).
  • Lived experience preferred, serving as a role model.
  • Visionary and highly organized.
  • Motivated to support individuals in realizing their potential.
  • Flexible and adaptable, considering the start-up phase without fixed structures.
  • Team-oriented mindset, emphasizing individual skills and needs.
  • Proactive and confident in English (preferably in French or Arabic).
  • Openness to learning from colleagues and alignment with our values and vision.
  • Available as soon as possible for a minimum of 2 months, preferably longer.
