WASH-Manager
In the SKILLS FACTORY on Samos crafts(wo)men from all over the world come together to share their expertise and their ideas, to learn with and from each other and to produce the things they need the most, themselves.
Overview:
The WASH project of the SKILLS FACTORY provides essential laundry and shower services to residents of the Samos refugee camp (CCAC), addressing critical hygiene needs amidst water shortages and overcrowding.
As the WASH-Manager, you play a pivotal role in managing the WASH-project. If you have time and room in between, you will be helping with general tasks, such as driving, gardening or assisting in other departments.
As WASH-Manager you will be responsible for:
WASH-Management:
- Oversee the WASH project operations
- Work closely together with a team of 1-2 community volunteers
- Manage daily appointments, wash, dry, fold, and organize laundry
- Document laundry activities and maintain inventory (reporting)
- Organising and maintaining work clothing.
- Empowering community members to feel useful and valued in their roles within WASH, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to collaborate on an equal footing.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of laundry facilities
- Manage shower facilities
- Engage in improvement of services and outreach
General Tasks:
- Driving: Conduct shopping trips for necessary supplies or transport volunteers for registrations and other errands.
- Gardening: Maintain cleanliness and organization of outdoor areas, water, prune, and plant as needed.
- Participate in daily team meetings, relevant discussions and weekly selfcare-meeting.
- Attend to cleaning and maintenance tasks
- Provide administrative support if necessary
- Offer assistance across various departments
- Contribute ideas for improvement and innovation
Requirements:
- Versatile skill set with adaptability and proactive communication
- Motivated, organized, creative, and receptive to learning from a diverse team
- Mentally resilient with the ability to manage challenging situations (minimum age 23)
- Good physical health, with the willingness and motivation to actively participate in WASH activities over several weeks.
- Valid driving license and comfort with driving
- Willingness to live in shared accommodation, with respect for diverse characters and flexibility in daily living.
- Alignment with organizational values and cultural sensitivity
- Commitment of at least 2 months, preferably longer
